“This is the magic of theatre” – Jerry Wasserman, The Province

audition_speeches_for_black_south_asian_and_middle_eastern_actors_womenThroughout my travels an ongoing commitment to the Canadian community has been maintained through free long distance dramaturgy to playwrights from the Yukon to Montreal; supporting networking (introductions such organisations The Royal Court, The Royal National Theatre of Wales to companies such as the National Arts Centre, Playwrights Theatre Centre and Playwrights Workshop Montreal); and serving on committees such as The Gordon Armstrong Playwrights’ Rent Award.

I am also happy to report that recent ongoing volunteer outreach on behalf of Canadian theatre has resulted the inclusion of Canadian playwrights Camyar Chai, Anosh Irani, Sheila James, Ravi and Asha Jain,Anita Majumdar, Wajdi Moad, Pamela Mala Shina, Djanet Spears, Jordan Tannahill, Guillermo Verdecchia and Marcus Youssef in Simeilia Hodge-Dallaway’s monologue collections Audition Speeches for Black, South Asian and Middle Eastern Actors: Monologues for Women and Audition Speeches for Black, South Asian and Middle Eastern Actors: Monologues for Men published by Bloomsbury Methuen and initiated by the Royal National Theatre.
